This article presents the results of the theoretical calculations of the stress-strain state arising in the intersection joints of concrete dams under a dynamic impulse load. Additionally, it reports the field tests results to determine relative displacements of adjacent sections of the dam. Further, the stress-strain state in the intersection joints of a massive head buttress dam has been assessed.
