Experimental and numerical studies of the irregularity of concentration and rate distributions in the gas lines of boiler systems and in the shafts of standard smokestacks are discussed. It is found that the most universal way of organizing continuous monitoring at thermal power plants is a combination of measurement systems on the boilers for monitoring and adjustment of pollutant emissions to safe levels, and on smokestacks to record gross atmospheric emissions. Practical recommendations are given for the installation of measuring systems for reliable instrumented evaluation and recording of atmospheric pollution emissions from thermal power plants.
