The major classes of high-power domestic turbine and hydroelectric generators operating at power plants in Russia and abroad are examined.Ways of improving the operating and economic efficiency of these machines based on new design solutions, technical improvements, and advances in materials (insulation, active, and structural), both for building new generators and the modernization of existing ones, are discussed.
