Removal of Growths and Incrustations from Water-Development Works

  • Hydrotechnical Construction
  • Published:
Power Technology and Engineering Aims and scope

Problems associated with animal and plant growths on underwater sections of water-development works, pipelines, and marine platforms are examined. Negative consequences of growths, scaling of protective coatings, and corrosion processes are discussed. Methods employed for underwater removal of growths, incrustations, and coatings are analyzed. Results are presented for inherent experimental and analytical investigations of the hydrodynamic cavitation method of removing various growths, incrustations, and coatings from concrete and metals, and also results of placement of a prototype model of a unit in production.
