Results are reported from thermal tests of power generating units No. 1 – 4 of the Konakovo State Regional Electric Power Plant (Konakovo GRÉS) following modernization with new technical solutions for the turbines. Tests of the first, in Russia, high pressure cylinders with reactive blading and low pressure cylinders with sable nozzle blades are also reported. The thermal efficiencies of the turbine and power generating units before and after modernization are compared. Recommendations are made regarding the possible use of the proposed technical solutions in power plants with similar power generating units.
