Abstract

The possibility is demonstrated of simulating irreversible processes in nonisothermal systems using a unified variational principle. In the first stage, a thermodynamic description is made of quasi-equilibrium systems for which the parameters of inverse temperatures βj and of the rates of their time variation \(\dot \beta ^j \) are introduced. The second stage corresponds to kinetic simulation using the generalization of the principle of minimal production of entropy to the unsteady-state case.
