  • Published:
Glass and Ceramics Aims and scope Submit manuscript

The interaction of orthophosphoric acid with the bismuth borate glasses having the compositions (weight content, %) 70Bi2O3 - 30B2O3, 70Bi2O3 - 27B2O3 - 3MoO3, 70Bi2O3 - 26.94B2O3 - 3.06GeO2 and the bismuth glass 80Bi2O3 - 7SiO2 - 10GeO2 - 3MoO3 was investigated. The kinetics of this process is described and the activation energy is calculated. It is shown that at short interaction times the process is limited by the chemical reaction stage, but with increasing interaction time the stage of diffusion through the sediment layer assumes the main role in the heterogeneous interaction. The optimal choice of the parameters of the chemical treatment of glass was made: 15 min at 373.
