Synthesis of Ionizable Fiber-Forming Copolymers of Acrylonitrile and 2-Acrylamido-2-Methylpropanesulfonic Acid in DMF

  • Published:
Fibre Chemistry Aims and scope

Homogeneous synthesis of ionizable fiber-forming copolymers of acrylonitrile and 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid in DMF with the contents of the acidic comonomer varying from 20 to 50% (of the monomer mass) was investigated. The integral parameters of the empirical dynamics of copolymer synthesis were determined to simulate this process under manufacturing conditions. It was noted that 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid enhanced the process rate. The suitability of the ionizable copolymers for spinning fibrous materials from them was assessed.
