The results of an experimental study into the strength characteristics of synthetic thread doublings are presented. Random errors in the determination of breaking strength and relative elongation for three types of material were calculated. It was established that random errors of determining the relative elongation exceed a systematic error. Random errors of determining relative elongation decrease when testing doublings in a wet state. A power dependence of the breaking strength on the sample diameter was obtained.
