Effect of Fire-Resistant Systems on Fire Hazard in Plasticized Polyvinylchloride

  • Published:
Fibre Chemistry Aims and scope

Questions concerning the production of fire-resistant textile materials based on plasticized polyvinylchloride are examined. The parameters of fire hazard in fire-resistant samples of vinyl leather substitute in the presence of metal- and phosphorus-nitrogen-containing fire-retarding systems (flammability, resistance to the action of heat flows, flame propagation along the surface, smokeforming ability) were investigated. Recipes using phosphorus- and metal-containing fire-retarding systems were selected for the production of vinyl leather with reduced fire risk.
