Effect of Polysaccharide Constituents on the Properties of Biopolymer Composites and Films Based on Them

  • Published:
Fibre Chemistry Aims and scope

The specifics of preparing multicomponent biopolymer composites and films based on them are discussed. The optimal ratio of poly(acrylic acid) and alkaline collagen solution in the basic composite is determined. The polysaccharides (sodium alginate and pectin) are shown to affect the rheological characteristics of the basic composite and the properties of biopolymer composite films. Materials based on these composites and films could find broad application as carriers for controlled-release forms of biologically active compounds in medicine, pharmaceuticals, and other areas.
