Abstract
The effect of solvents on the rate of mass transfer of dyes in cellulose and PET is investigated based on concepts concerning the hole mechanism of diffusion. It is shown that in contrast to PET, the sorption reaction of the dye with the polymer has a significant effect on the diffusion coefficient of the dye in cellulose together with the value of the free volume in the polymer.
