Abstract
Institutions of higher learning are essential to the growth of the economy. Adopting sustainable methods encourages employees and students to become more conscious. In the global context, sustainability is considered an important topic for research in the various sectors of education. Students are concerned about having an impact on human activities on the environment and are eager to know about it and support the reduction of the carbon footprint from the environment. This article aims to adopt the quantitative research methodology was used by involving a quantitative survey method for gathering data and information. Quantitative surveys were used as a research instrument. The main purpose of the study is to analyze the effectiveness of the Gandhian development model in the promotion of sustainable development practices. In addition to this, the study aims to identify the present state of sustainable development practices in higher education institutes. The information collected for the present research was collected by quantitative survey. It has been evaluated that the majority of respondents were male 55.8%. The age of respondents was higher 28.3% with the age group 16–18 years. Furthermore, the Gandhian model of development involves respondents of 51.9%. The study will also help provide an understanding of the importance of the Gandhian model of development. The study is limited to the Indian context concerning sustainability in higher education institutes.
