A new ferulate-derived, (E)-15-{[3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)acryloyl]oxy}pentadecanoic acid (named as alpinagalanate) (1), 19 known compounds were isolated from the rhizomes of Alpinia galanga (Zingiberaceae). The structure of the new phenylalkanoid was elucidated by chemical and physical evidence.
