A New Ionone from Emilia sonchifolia

A new 4,5-epoxy-4,5-dihydro-α-ionone, emilifodione (1), was isolated from the leaves of Emilia sonchifolia (L.) DC. ex DC. (Asteraceae). The structure of the new ionone was elucidated by chemical and physical evidence.
