Isolation and Spectral Studies of a New Lactone Triterpenoid from Lantana camara

A new lactone triterpenoid lantanolide along with four known triterpenoids were isolated from the ether fraction of above-ground parts of Lantana camara L. The chemical structure of the new compound was determined to be 3-oxo-12α,22β,25-trihydroxy-18β-olean-28,13β-olide (1), based on spectroscopic data including UV, IR, EI-MS, HR-EI-MS, and 1D and 2D NMR.
