A new phenolic compound, named (E)-2,4-bis(p-hydroxyphenyl)-2-butenol (1), together with three known compounds were isolated from the radix and rhizome of Caulophyllum robustum Maxim. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectral data. The anti-inflammation characteristics of the new compound and the three known compounds were tested.
