Two New Polyhydroxylated Sterol Derivatives from the Sponge Topsentia sp. Collected from the South China Sea

Further chemical investigation of the marine sponge Topsentio sp. collected from the South China Sea led to the isolation of two new polyhydroxylated sterol derivatives, topsensterol D (1) and 4β-hydroxyhalistanol (2). Their structures were elucidated by detailed analysis of the spectroscopic data including 1D and 2D NMR spectral data. Their cytotoxic activities were evaluated.
