Abstract
The effect of anomalous cross-field current on fluctuating equilibria in toroidal plasmas is studied experimentally and numerically. In cases where a cross-field discharge current is imposed, it is shown that this current determines the radial profiles of electron density and radial electric field. Moreover, it is well described by an heuristic anomalous Pedersen conductivity (or an anomalous ion collision frequency) which is approximately 4 times the ion-neutral collision frequency.
