Edge operational regimes in tokamaks

Abstract

Edge operational regimes in tokamaks are described using mostly experimental results of ASDEX Upgrade. Emphasis is put on high confinement mode (H-mode) at medium and high densities up to the density limit. Implications for the physics of H-mode and the density limit are discussed.
