Abstract

Through the Virtual Compton Scattering it is possible to cause electromagnetic deformations of the proton and hence to probe its internal structure. The VCS experiment E93050 performed in Hall A at TJNAF is now giving its first results: cross sections have been extracted below pion threshold and in the resonance region, providing an evidence of the generalised polarisabilities of the proton and giving new stringent inputs to theoretical models.
