Abstract
We have studied the influence of circular pits arranged in closely spaced lines perpendicular to the ribbon axis and produced by excimer laser on the domain structure and magnetic anisotropy of Finemet. We have found that the pitted lines produce demagnetizing field, which produces an additional transverse contribution to the anisotropy. As a consequence of the demagnetizing field, domains with the in-plane magnetic polarization vector perpendicular to the ribbon axis are formed. This magnetic anisotropy changes also the shape and tilting of the hysteresis loops.
