Abstract

The high yield of 81% for the heterogeneous catalytic oxidation of cyclopentene with 50% aqueous hydrogen peroxide solutions to glutaraldehyde over WO3/Ti–HMS catalyst was obtained. Based on characterizations such as: X-ray diffraction, surface area determination and potentiometric titration measurements, the activity and selectivity of WO3/Ti–HMS catalyst were effectively attributed to a high amorphous WO3 loading, as well as an appropriate structure of Ti–HMS support.
