Types of Scrolls of Refrigeration Scroll Compressors and Calculation of Geometry of Scroll Profiles

Spiral compressors are often used in refrigeration for their volumetric efficiency, low noise, high balance, and many other advantages. The literature does not have sufficient information on scroll profiling. Therefore, scroll profiling poses the greatest difficulty in designing of scroll compressors. In this study, necessary mathematical relations are developed for profiling and constructing 3D models of a piecewise circumferential scroll, an involute scroll, and an Archimedian spiral.
