Efficiency of Bimetallic Ribbed Tube Bundles in Forced Convection Conditions

  • Published:
Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Aims and scope

This results of investigation of characteristics of bimetallic ribbed tube bundles with various ribbing factors are reported. It is shown that tubes with a ribbing factor φ = 11.2 have the maximum thermal efficiency and minimum aerodynamic resistance and that rise of ribbing factor to φ = 16.55 influences the decrease of relative heat flux. The optimum thermal contact resistance was found to lie in the 0.15–0.20 m2⋅K/kW range. The nonferrous metal (aluminum) consumption can be reduced by 20–50% using tubes having optimum parameters.
