An energy-efficient steam atmospheric dryer having a thermocompressor and built-in tube recorders is proposed. The special feature of the dryer is that superheated steam of the moisture vaporized from the material being dried is used as the drying agent. The same steam compressed by the thermocompressor is used as the warming heat carrier. Using the example of high-moisture wastewater sedimentary sludge drying it is shown by calculation that the proposed dryer is characterized by low consumption of energy from external sources. If the dryer is operated with a heat utilizer (exchanger), there is no need for an external source of heat energy for preheating the original wet material and that only electricity is used for driving the thermocompressor.
