An Algorithm-Based Program of an Information and Measurement System for Monitoring the Technical State of Pipelines

  • Published:
Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Aims and scope

An algorithm-based program of an information and measurement system for use in monitoring the technical state of pipelines which is capable of processing information generated by one nondestructive testing method or by a set of such methods is developed with evaluation of the state of a pipeline performed on the basis of a Bayesian approach. The highly sensitive (by comparison with other methods) method of acoustic emission is selected as the base method of nondestructive testing. By means of this method it is possible to detect and monitor the development of potentially dangerous defects. It is suggested that information from indicators of signs that accompany the development of defects should be used in order to increase the speed of an algorithm used for probabilistic evaluation of the state of a pipeline.
