Effect of structural changes for pipe metal on damage of pipeline systems for oil product processing

Research has established that operational damage of pipeline systems for oil product processing (PSOP) occurs due to turbulent flow of the main product, caused by structural features, which leads to cavitation in a localized area under conditions favorable for development of cavitation-erosion embrittlement and failure. Continuous monitoring of the wall thickness of critical areas of branch pipes and reducers, and restoration of them with high quality materials makes it possible to exclude critical situations and improve their corrosion resistance.
