A method based on determination of integral values of local pressure losses associated with potential flow velocity of a fluid in a smooth slot seal channel is proposed for calculating radial forces in slot seals in a case where the axes of the shaft and housing bushing of the seal assembly are eccentric. It differs from the well-known Lomakin calculation method based on differential calculation of local losses in terms of the flow rate of the fluid through the seal assembly. The proposed method can be used to simplify solution of the problem and to enhance the accuracy of calculations.
