Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils Aims and scope

The article presents the results of CFD-analysis of packed demisters. The range of operation of counterflow (horizontal) and crossflow (vertical) single-stage packed demisters is obtained. It is shown that the range of operation of a single-stage crossflow packed demister is 1.91 times greater than that of a horizontal packed demister, which can be explained by the phenomena of secondary droplet entrainment. Also, calculated hydraulic resistances of packed demisters are determined.
