Hydrocarbons in Hydropyrolysis Products of Sapropelic Coals

We have studied the qualitative and quantitative composition of hydrocarbons formed in the hydropyrolysis of sapropelic coals. It was observed that 30-50% of pyrolytic conversions of the organic mass in the studied sapropelic coals at 420°C under hydrogen pressure are associated with the formation of liquid hydrocarbons typical of petroleum kerosene and diesel fractions. It was noted that the hydropyrolysis products contain more alkanes and fewer alkenes and cycloalkanes than the hydrogen-free pyrolysis products. Based on the composition of unbranched, isoprenoid, and cyclic pyrogenic hydrocarbon biomarkers, we draw conclusions concerning the marine origin of the original biomass in the studied coals and the pathways for the formation of hydropyrolysis products from lipid structural components.
