The effect of rapeseed oil addition on the yield, composition, and properties of products of destructive distillation of asphalt from deasphalting operation is studied. The mechanism of thermal cracking of fatty acid triglycerides is shown to change in the presence of hydrocarbons. The feasibility of producing hydrocarbon motor fuels from vegetable oils under refinery conditions by thermal cracking of heavy petroleum resids is demonstrated.
