Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils Aims and scope

Measurements have been made on the protective performance of fresh and oxidized rapeseed oil (RO) under conditions of atmospheric corrosion of carbon steel. We examined the effects of additive IFKhAN-29A, including those on the kinetics of the partial electrode reactions in 0.5 M NaCl solution. It is found that a thermal humidity chamber and natural conditions produce protective effects of more than 95% from thin films of RO, but which is substantially reduced in the presence of chloride ions.
