A Method for Detecting Outlines and Assessing Cross-Sectional Areas of the Neck Vessels in Ultrasound Investigations

  • Published:
Biomedical Engineering Aims and scope

A method is proposed for extracting cross-section contours of blood vessels on ultrasound images and estimating their area dynamically. The method is based on finding brightness differences along radial sections of vessels on ultrasound images. Contour analysis is used to describe the boundaries of vessel cross-sections on ultrasound images and estimate their areas.
