  • Published:
Biomedical Engineering Aims and scope

A method for calculation of the quantitative measure of the complexity of small monochrome medical images is presented. It is shown that the proposed measure allows estimation of the shape complexity of small objects in medical images. A virtual instrument for automated image analysis in early disease stages was developed using the proposed method.
