Investigation of the influence of video data compression methods on image microstructure in medical information systems by the example of the observation of erythrocyte lysis was studied. The effect of compression methods on signal and background statistics determining the image quality is shown. A method for video stream preprocessing taking into consideration file size minimization and saving of image microstructure is proposed. Video data compression methods XVID, DIVX, H.264, MPEG1, MPEG2, and MPEG4 are compared. This allows rational choice of video data compression parameters depending on initial image contrast and object dimensions.
