Aleksandrov NITI, created in 1962 on the initiative and with the support of A. P. Aleksandrov as a base for testing nuclear propulsion plants, became over a period of 60 years of successful scientifi c and engineering work a large center for developing, testing, and investigating nuclear propulsion plants of different types and end uses. This article identifies the basic stages in the activity of the enterprise and the results achieved on the test base and in investigations of different samples of nuclear propulsion plants. The prospects of the current stage of development of the test base for developing, testing, and studying anew the created nuclear propulsion plants are discussed.
