α-Activity Measurement for Native Radionuclides in Ancient Bone Remains

  • Published:
Atomic Energy Aims and scope

The specific total α-activity of native radionuclides and the exhalation rate of 222Rn from ancient and standard bone and soil from the locations of the findings, measured using a MKGB-01 RADEK alpha radiometer and the CR-39 track detector, are presented. The measurements showed that the specific α-activity of radionuclides and the exhalation rate of radon in ancient bones are several-fold greater than in ordinary bones and soils.
