Optimization of Two- and Three-Cascade Schemes for Efficient Separation of Stable Isotopes

  • Published:
Atomic Energy Aims and scope

Squared-off cascade systems constructed from two and three cascades are considered. Such schemes can be used to simultaneously concentrate isotopes with intermediate mass numbers in different outgoing streams of the cascades. A technique is proposed for optimizing the parameters of such systems in terms of the criterion of minimum relative total flow for a specified mole-fraction of the desired components. The developed technique was tested on an example of the separation of mixtures with a different number of components.
