The possibility of using partially decontaminated metal as a material for fabricating building bars and containers for handling wastes is examined. The specific activity of radionuclides in metal at which such parts can be used safely in the nuclear industry is evaluated. A methodological approach is proposed for evaluating the maximum admissible specific activity of recycled metal. Examples of calculations showing that it is possible to proceed to the evaluation of the economic efficiency of handling wastes in this manner are presented.
