Refueling optimization is examined for RBMK. The optimal distribution of burnup and the number of inserted control rods is discussed. The possible effect of optimization is evaluated. Modeling shows that the economic effect of optimization of refueling at nuclear power plants can be comparable to strategic measures such as increasing fuel enrichment.
