Abstract
The probability of discovering contact close binary stars in early spectral classes (CE systems) as eclipsing variables is calculated as a function of the mass of the principal component, the mass ratio, and the angle of inclination of the orbit. The case of total limb darkening of the star's disk (hypothesis “D”) is examined. A comparison with previous results for uniformly bright stellar disks (hypothesis “U”) shows that the difference between the two cases is small.
