Abstract
In this paper, we study the equilibria and the relative equilibria, emphasizing the central configurations that characterize the two-body problem associated to a Buckingham type potential. We give conditions on potential parameters that allow the description of the equilibrium points. We characterize the relative equilibria by means of the moment of inertia values, and we provide conditions which ensure that these relative equilibria are spectrally stable or unstable.
