Scrutinizing Argumentation in Practice is the 9th book in the Argumentation and Context series. This purpose of the book series is to highlight research examining argumentation practices as they occur in modern institutional and social contexts. The 9th volume in the series provides examples of research grounded in the examination of argumentation as it actually happens in a variety of situations and circumstances. The chapters are drawn from presentations made at the 8th Conference of the International Association for the study of Argumentation in the summer of 2014 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The book is organized around a variety of argumentative contexts including science, politics, law, education, interpersonal interaction, and strategic maneuvering.
