Abstract
This paper describes the implementation of a profile of the Search/Retrieve URL protocol for searching EAC-CPF repositories. This implementation gives archivists access to remote repositories of context and authority records when writing finding aids. This implementation of SRU is a key component in an open, distributed work environment where archivists can locate authority records and reuse them as access points. The possibility of combining and linking EAC-CPF records with descriptive metadata records (based on EAD or in any other XML-based format) leverages the investments made in the development of EAC-CPF repositories and supports innovative, distributed archival information services.
