Abstract
Special attention should be paid to inhalation therapy in old patients. The need for therapy increases due to the progression of a chronic obstructive lung disease. At the same time the ability to correctly use an inhalation device decreases. Teaching of the appropriate inhalation technique is important at all ages. Cognitive deficits, impaired vision and reduced health literacy increase the intensity of a training program. In addition, adherence decreases. Treatment plans have to be as simple as possible. Prescription of a variety of different inhalation devices should be avoided.
