Der Pneumologe Aims and scope

Abstract

An increase in eosinophilic granulocytes in peripheral blood as well as in pulmonary and extrapulmonary tissues can occur in a variety of bronchopulmonary and extrapulmonary disorders. The differential diagnostic spectrum comprises allergic diseases, as well as autoimmune disorders, infections, in particular parasitosis and exogenous noxious substances, e. g. medications and drugs. Furthermore, there are idiopathic forms of eosinophilic lung diseases. This article summarizes the differential diagnostic spectrum as well as the differential diagnostic work-up of eosinophilia in these patients.
