Abstract
Even though the incidence of tuberculosis (TB) in central European countries is low and slowly decreasing, it is still an important contagious and notifiable disease. The most frequently affected organs are the lungs but clinical features of pulmonary TB can be very similar to other commonly occurring pulmonary diseases. Migration of infected persons from countries with high prevalence rates of TB, including resistant TB and also the increasing number of immune compromised and comorbid patients set a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge for many clinicians in middle Europe.
