Der Pneumologe Aims and scope

Abstract

Bronchoscopy is a less invasive, but therapy-determining diagnostic procedure. Depending on tumor localization and size, the diagnostic yield varies between 30 and 90%, even in recent investigations. The diagnostic techniques used are brushing, rinsing and needle aspirations as well as endobronchial and transbronchial lung biopsies. The aim of the reviews here is to point out the value of indications, diagnostic techniques and avoidance of complications, with a overview on possibly upcoming techniques.
