Abstract
The process of transition towards market economy has had a great impact on population health in several countries of the former Soviet Union, including the Baltic countries. This paper gives an overview on existing health indicators and trend data for the republic of Estonia during the years of economic and political transition and compares them with the respective European average. By using this approach, the main health-related problems are outlined that cause concern from a public-health perspective.
